Considering it, never raced like that before and its not going to be the easiest race so a little unsure, would like to try a marsh tracks race first really, but then again could be good to throw in at the deep end

Done some racing myself this year for the first time. Mostly marsh tracks but also did the Denbigh RR. I'd say marsh tracks is the perfect place to start, I'll be there tomorrow
Don't forget you need a race license to enter these events which is 32 quid and that the license would then only be valid until the end of the year.

With the number of people defecting to the dark side, we're going to have to rename ourselves at this rate. I'm not having a dig as I'm one of them, although I still like my nobblies too.
Seriously though, maybe there should be a section for posting up road rides on here [awaits banishment to naughty step and hurled abuse ;D]

Is a worrying trend. Sunday night I swore never to sit on road bike again. But by Wednesday I wondering when the entries open for Wild Wales, Etape Eryri etc. Even started looking at audax events. Not a good sign.

Bikes is bikes what difference does it make. I was at Marsh tracks tonight and in two weeks I'll be lining up at the start of Kielder100. Besides loads of pros started off as mountain bikers (Cadel Evans, Ryder Hjesdal etc) Why not have a road ride planner? What harm can it do?

Never done a bike race let alone a XC race Killer line was "well you have lots of advice when I race lets see how you do" Answer will be badly. Well its only 90 mins of utter humiliation. far to smart for 9 year old.

How good is the Marsh Tracks Woody,or RBNW Great fun Ben. Pan flat, smooth tarmac that you can ride flat out around including the corners! If you fancy a go at riding the track they run training sessions on a thursday night for 3 quid. Thats how I started. The racing is on a Wednesday and is called the 'Graham Weigh series' with different clubs taking it in turn to run the event. Sometimes they do a 'Go Race' which is aimed at beginners only. The season is nearly over now and I think there's only a couple more race nights.

Riding a bike is riding a bike no matter where you do it; be it mtb trails and XC; road or track. Can't get my head round BMX though; still it's a bike. I gave up racing at 65+ when I was taking too much of a hammering by the over 50's. Have a go Oggy you'll find it quite an experience to say the least. Dan Evans wil give you a few tips. Look forward to your report
