Rode some of the route this morning, saw quite a few cars even though the roads were closed. Somebody will get hurt. I blame the residents, they just don't get it. There was a cone placed on every residents driveway with a note attached explaining what was going on. Nothing to stop them from moving the cone and driving straight onto the course. The marshalls are only positioned on junctions and can only do so much.
Anyway I hope I'm wrong (I was out early) and that everyone has enjoyed the day.

I'm a cyclist so I appreciate the event. Rupert had a near miss with a 4x4 at last years event on a supposedly closed road! But I'm also a local resident. My village has been cut off by closed roads today between 0730 and approx 1330 hrs. I also work shifts. Luckily, I'm on nights today. However, on my other shift time (1000 till 2200) I'd have been stuck, go to work 3 hrs early or not go at all It's not quite so black and white when you're directly affected. I also hope everyone's had a good time and it's been a better event event than last year

The British are not so laid back as regard road closures as the ones across the Channel. They make a picnic of the day and enjoy being there. I organised a road running race on closed road and on the day of the race a local resident tried to walk in front of the race start to "exercise his rights!" Just watched the Tour of Britain 1st stage and they used very narrow roads and encountered parked cars in villages; over the channel they would have been moved. Still we have to put up with motorists "rights" Understand your dilema Buffy

Terrific event, didnt see one car on the course all day, well marshalled and signed. Locals out cheering us along and the sun was out, feed stations well stocked there was a great atmosphere and the route was spot on. Will be doing next years for sure Oggy had a hiccup starting last but soon motored his way through the field and finished in 5h:43 117th overall, I managed a 6h:19 321st overall which I was chuffed with

Great event.well done to everyone that took part very well organised, carnt really fault it By my counting i was 90th Dan Bit of a f up on my part, i arrived late after everyone else had set off and ended up riding the first 15mile on closed road without another bike in site, very sureal feeling Also big thanks to the dude that lent me a jersey in the carpark because i forgot mine along with my number, organisational skills were never a strong point Cracking time there Dan, chuft for you mate shows how much effort youve been putting in on the bike, respect
