Does anyone know where the starting point is from Is it the Britania to the very first layby ? Not entered as too late now, but would of liked a go. The Etape time it from a sign, is it the one where they put the snow warning sign on. Im confused.

If its the same as last year its from the sign at the junction of the B5103 (the road to the horse shoe falls.) To the summit sign out side the poderosa.

It was my 1st ever race back in 1988 and I did it every year till 1997 and it was always a start from the drain grid as you pull into the Britannia Inn car park to the finish at the end of the lay-by just before the summit .............. 10m 58s I recall was my best but one year with a howling headwind it took 15 minutes plus. I was caught once by Chris Boardman when he did it in 9m 07s once, he came past like it was flat and averaged 18mph+ !!! His record has since been lowered to 9m 03s.

Iggy's right, it starts by the Britannia and finishes just before it flattens out and turns towards the Ponderosa.
No headwinds today Igg, in fact conditions were perfect.
Just under 100 riders entered and the event was won in style by Dan Evans in under 10 minutes!
I managed 12 minutes 32 which gives me something to aim at next year and Gareth put in a decent time.
