I've ordered my new forks today so thought I'd have a go at taking off the old forks and stripping down my Hope headset for a bit of a service as it's only been about 2-3 years since I got it fitted Most of it was plain sailing and I was very impressed that the fork crown race came off so easily! I was all set for a bashing match and giving up and buying a new one until I actually started it and it was soooo easy! Anyway I came a bit unstuck re the bearings as they appear to be Hope specific and non-standard (oh and about £15 each ) so a quick trawl of the tinterweb and I found this very helpful page... www.cyclistno1.co.uk/features/maintenance/hope-headset-service.htmIt showed me how to remove the bearing seals, clean them out, regrease and put it all back together again without having to buy new ones. Happy Days ;D Much impressed!
