Well done, see theres still life in the old dogs yet!!! ;D ;D I reckon the trek would have been the faster option round the marin, Gus was a lot quicker on his hardtail than the cove Keep at it I want to do a Penmachno wave but also want to go home in one peice too

Cracking time Tarbo , won't even bother trying to chase that time . Wonder how long Oggy will be able to leave it till he's done one As for you Phil you need to get rid of those 2 bikes of yours and get 1 proper bike (suggest a Five) . That way you'll get enough biking in to beat my time easy ;D

Well seeing as both ken and tarbo smashed my previous best for this year i just had to go and have another go, even if it was pissing down with rain! Started at 17.38, back at the car at 19.17. Should've pushed that little bit harder chris just waiting for oggy to show everyone up now.

Well done, see theres still life in the old dogs yet!!! ;D ;D It won't be long until you're our age Mr Price I reckon the trek would have been the faster option round the marin, Gus was a lot quicker on his hardtail than the cove Keep at it I took your advice today Mark and took the Trek out for a blast around The Marin. It felt a lot quicker on the climbs and I even had some motivation as there were people in front of me to chase down. It didn't feel all that slower on the downhills either, but bloody hell, I didn't half notice the difference over The Dragon's Back Anyway, I put in what seemed like a lot more effort on the climbs, and tried to be smooth on the singletrack rather than fast and managed to get around in the grand time off 1.46.33 That's six minutes slower than on the Orange 5 ! To say I was gutted at the end was an overstatement. All I can attribute it to is the conditions, as last Monday was lovely and dry, and today was wet and boggy. The question is, what bike to do it on next time

And finally, just for your information, and to p1ss you all off. Here's the garmin data of a Wave around The Marin that I copied off a friend's Facebook page. He is a registered member on here, but unless the lazy bugger pulls his finger out and puts it up himself, it cannot go onto the official Wave page. And it was done on a mountain bike, not a motocross bike

I tend to go faster when it's wet - because I want to get out of the wet asap I can see how doing it on a hardtail in the wet could be slower - some of the descents are slippy at the best of times on a full sus.

1 hour 12? Are you sure he didn't just do a lap of Llandegla black and then paste the Marin map on top
I have to say Tarbo this thing about hardtails being faster than full suss doesn't fit with my experience either - I'm always loads slower on my Scott than the Superlight if I do a timed lap of anything. That said the Superlight does climb really well for a full suss though, especially with propedal switched on.

I did another wet willy wave tonight, although not as wet as last week (would be nice to go out riding in the dry sometime this summer...) Started at 18:24, finished at 20:01 (1h 37m). Disappointed it wasn't quicker - it felt like I was flying around tonight Car park was busy tonight, although I saw one group of people ride up to the top then cut down the final descent as it was starting to rain. The midges were also out in force: up at the far end the rain felt like it had turned to soft snow, except it was a blizzard of midges. They came back for afters as I was getting changed in the car park.

Went to try the new bits on the MBR at CYB today , not bad at all nice and flowy but I kinder miss the rougher singletrack it replaces . Anyway only had the phone so went back to last full minute at start and up to next full minute at finish (started 11.28 something finished 12.49 something so 11.28 to 12.50 = 1.22 ) but still a small improvement so happy to post 1.22 . Trails are nice and dry .

After finally getting round the Marin in under 2 hours for the first time last week, managed to get round today in 1h:53m:11s. There were a couple of diversions but the gps info from Endomondo on my phone shows that I still travelled 14.63 miles which is pretty much what Tarbo's info shows.
I'm going to try to beat it on Monday, so I'll be staying off the caloriffic beer for the rest of the week and sticking to low-cal whisky ;D

It is so dry up there at the moment and with all the smoothing out they're doing, I don't think a full sus will be much quicker on the descents.
