Just done all mine today. Tried loads of different ones, Nikwak, grangers and fabsil So far Fabsil has proved to be the best. www.gooutdoors.co.uk/grangers-fabsil-1l-camping-proofer-p107743I think its designed more for tents but does a great job on everything i have. Spray on or as i did before with the spd's brushed it in several times. Warning though it seriously smells so don't sleep in the same room as you have the jacket drying, Been there and done that woke up with a headache. You probably know this already, But washing them with normal washing powder removes and ruins the ability for something to be water proof. (trying to teach you how to suck eggs kinda thing sorry)

Thanks Ross and I am a bugger for washing my stuff with normal powder even though I know I shouldn't, but then I do most things in life I shouldn't so why stop with waterproofing

Not sure which of those I used on my walking kit, the best was where ypu used tumble dryer after. They dont like conditioner either.

I use Nikwax reproofer. Clean the detergent drawer out first to get rid of the fabric softener, wash them first in 'Tech Wash' then in the reproofer. Finally, a cool tumble dry. Bit of a faff but works well. You can get wash/reproofer in one so it only takes one wash cycle, but with the ingrained MTBing dirt I find doing it separately gets better results.
For normal cycling/sport/gym stuff I use Halo sports wash, which I can get in Sainsbury's. It's anti-bacterial and stops that stale sweat smell that can build up in man-made fabrics. Can't use it on wool thermals, though.

Another one for the Nikwax Techwash and reproofer, always seems to work a treat for me. Tend to find you end up wetter on the inside than the outside with the bin bag option though All the best Nick
