a mate of mine wants me to re-anodise a stem cap in a different colour. This means acid etching off the old anodising to build it back up. this process can add or subtract around 40 microns to the surface of the part. i know the surface of the cap and stem are a good fit but does anyone know if this could cause issues?

Surely doing the bolts up slightly tighter would more than compensate for 40 microns?

40 microns is .04mm or .0016" & won't make any difference to the fit of the stem cap. If you etch the anodising off & re-apply in a different colour won't that put it back to the same size anyhow?
