Hi All, it's been a while but I'm trying to get back into a bit of mountain biking. I'm looking for a new full susser, mainly for xc and trail riding for the likes of the Clwyds and Degla / Marin stuff. Looking around, there is so much choice I'm really stumped with what to go for. I've ridden a Scott Spark which I liked, so am looking at the Spark 750 as one of the options. Others I'm looking at are the Norco Optic A7.1 and Cube Stereo 120 HPA SL. I'm planning to buy from Evans Cycles as they are doing a £250 "trade in"and I can get £500 cashback through my work health insurance if I buy from Evans, so a huge saving to be had. Any thoughts on those bikes or other suggestions at that price point - £2200?

Whyte T-129.Look at the reviews! I've ridden one on a demo day at the Marin and it's the best mtb I've been on!

Do you have a preference on wheel size?

Thanks for the responses guys - I'll investigate. James - I'm looking mainly at 27.5 inch but could be convinced of 29 - I've only ridden one once a couple of years ago and didn't particularly enjoy it.

For the riding you're looking to do I personally would be looking at a 29er with 120/130 travel. 29er munches miles better than 650B but 650B leans and turns better (my personal experience and I've got both) so either wheel size should suit.
The Whyte (129 or 130) seem to be good but like the wrong'un said have a look at Canyon. They have an office down London way if you have any issues etc and someone there answers the phone rather than someone in a call centre in Bombay.
If your search goes well and I find some mojo might bump into you out and about
