Hey, Well as it say's i wana go t the alps this summer but my riding buddie cant come cos his misses is making him go to New York (i know) So just wondering if there are people out there in the same situation as me! Im not bothered where i go as long as the lifts go up and the trails come down but Les Arcs or Morzine looks sweet. I ride a Spesh enduro 08 so that kind of tells you what kind of riding im in too About me, Im 23 i work as a broadcast engineer in London but am originally from Caernarfon and come back to ride for a week at least once a month. Any way if your interested PM me. Paul

Been quite a bit of talk on here about doing an alps trip, i'm sure there'll be people up for it. I'd love to go but very doubtful i'd be able to afford it. What time in summer were you thinking? June/July?

I've been to Morzine for the last 2 years in a row in a group of around 10-12 of us, all of varying abilities and with different riding styles. i.e some go off downhilling and some go for some sweet xc trails. Next year the plan is to go to Sierra Nevada in Spain for a bit of a change. I'll probably post something on here when the ball gets rolling on dates etc but if you want to be kept in the loop drop me an email and let me know.. Likewise for anyone else interested in joining us!.. As per the previous years it will probably be around the start of July..ish!

When were you planning on going?
I would quite like to get away somewhere but was thinking not in the middle of summer - the weather is normally alright for riding around here then ;D

I agree with you thistle, im looking at early summer so june seams to be the month all the lifts open. I have been looking at the company Alpine Elements www.alpineelements.co.uk/mountain-biking-holidays.htmlits about £500 for a week in Morzine in June. Included is 7-Nts Hotel Accom, Flights (all UK airports), Transfers, Breakfast, Cakes & Tea, 3 course evening meal, Hosts & Active Reps, FREE Bike Hire (3-4 days), Rafting, Activities Pass and use of bike workshops, mechanic support, bike wash, bike storage. And a Multipass for activities is just £6 (normally £32) So i think you only need pocket money for lunch and booz Oh and to wet your wistle check this out www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3JonVDbrK8

I've read some shocking reports about Alpine Elements summer biking over the years but mostly from a couple of years ago. Never been with them myself. Google them and have a poke around the forums the results bring up. If you decide on Les Arcs I have a pretty good trail map of the area here.

Last June I took part in the Passportes du Soliou which was great. Seven start towns, all down hill, free food and beer....great stuff ;D ;D www.passportesdusoleil.com/index.jsp?SDP_CHANGE_USERLANG=enEntries open early in the New year so keep an eye out for it as they go quick. To mark the opening of the summer season 3000 bikers take part in the event which is held over two days. Totally recommended Theres pics of the event on my photobucket link

Same as Doug, ive also heard some pretty shocking reports about them, I read comments about the bike storage just being an old broken wooden shed next to a road, as well as not seeing any of the guide they were promised all week. I had a look in to it myself as we were ment to be going this year and it seems like the best company to use are flowmtb. I really want to get a 2010 trip sorted but if im going i want to spend the extra cash and go with a good company as i dont think ill be doing it to many times in my life time, may as well make it a trip to remember. The only down side with this is that its going to cost around a grand i reckon, thats not including all body armour and bike spares ill need to buy

I am definitely going back to Les Arcs next summer if your interested Oggy. I know most of the 'secret' trails there so no guide needed. SC accomodation can be had for around £100 for 8 nights with 8 days riding.
Last time cost us £350 each for 2 plus food and beer including driving down in the V6 overnight Friday then back on the following Sunday which gives you more days in riding. 3 up in a car and it should be even cheaper even allowing for the exchange rate being crap.
I took £250 spends and came back with some as we ate in a few nights after going to the Lidl and Mammoth stores in Bourg.

Ye i read some of the reviews and i dont think i want to go with them now, but i really liked the all inclusive type of holiday they offer. Do you know if other companies do that? Driving sounds like a doable idea too.

Trail Addiction would be pretty much up your street in Les Arcs. There are a couple of decent DH tracks to ride on but the trails are mostly black grade and above singletrack. There's far more there than you can ride in one week, the trails are mostly pristine due to lack of use due to it being much quieter than the whole PDS region with a far greater density of trails over a massive area.

Im another one that hopes to get to the alps next year. I should be going with my club but there is a chance that they will go in August which is a big no no for me as I have no chance of getting time off work in August. So I will have to wait and see. I can't do anything til January though as I need to sort out time off work. People have filled out holiday forms but HR hold onto them til January so no one knows who has booked what time off. How busy does it get on the Passportes du Soliou ? Sounds like a good crack, Im not a downhill god but even on the merida's Im normaly chomping a the rear wheel of the person in front when the trail points down wards How many bikes will fit in a Vivaro?

Sounds like a good crack, Im not a downhill god but even on the merida's Im normaly chomping a the rear wheel of the person in front when the trail points down wards Even though there were 1500 competitors, we must of had a total wait at the lifts of about 20minutes ;D The course is so vast you don't really get the feeling there's that many in it Even though it's a downhill (ish) event and I'm more of a cross country rider, I found it fantastic ;D You make what you want of it. And with free food/drinks in every town, its a nice friendly relaxed day, but you are pretty goosed by the end mind

I read comments about the bike storage just being an old broken wooden shed next to a road Sounds like Wrexham estate agents' idea of a house with "somewhere secure for bikes" ;D
