I'm trying to make a decision on my hols for next year.
It's gonna incorporate MTB'ing but I wanna go somewhere a bit different. My choices, so far, are:
Peru (Macchu Pichu) South Africa Mozambique Vietnam
Can get some pretty good deals at the moment. Round about £1200 for 15 days, including flights. Anyone ever been as far afield for the biking?

Xybaglitter ;D ;D
south africa is dodgy. I work with blokes from there and some of the story's are horrific!
Peru would be good for MTB'ing and the hill walking would be cracking.

They do organized group trips, and the locations are places you wouldn't go to each year. They are also interesting, scenic, have history and a lot more than biking alone.
Peru is my fav at the moment but I've not decided 100% yet. I understand what you say about S Africa, but the places I would be going to are well controlled, guided and pretty secure. About the same as going to Sharm in Egypt, where I'm also thinking of going later next year to do my PADI course.

You dive? I did my PADI advanced in Cyprus. No I don't. But I got to know a guy on Macronissos Beach in Agia Napa last year who owned his own diving school. He used to come to the bar at my hotel each and we got into a lot of discussion about it. Even to the point that if I wanted to go back this year he could give me a job and put me through my Basics, Open Water etc, etc and eventually Instructor Quals.

Personally i would go for Peru, MTB is new there but there are many new routes being developed with some great reviews to.

Check out Neilson holidays (sun and surf option). I recommend Vassaliki in Greece or Bitez/Bodrum in Turkey for the mtb 'ing and you can do your PADI training at the same time !! Just google 'Neilson' and check out the web site.
