What a great weekend!! John (freakychurchill) came along on this circular route of the Carneddau. The weather was a litle mixed up as it was swealtering on Saturday and for tose of you who went on the forum ride will know, it was dreadful today Overall a fantastic route, a good craic with John and a great campspot We left Llandudno Junction for Conwy and then up Conwy mountain which proved to be a real sweaty climb
Shattered after less than an hour
Then it was over to Tal y Fan and the very dry Roman Road
Careful John, you know what happened last time you were here
From there it was a little 'new' bit for me. We crossed the river and headed up the fire road as I remembered Smithy finding a cheeky bit of singletrack a while back....and it was fantastic
After finding ourselves at Aber Falls we headed alomg the North Wales coast path and made our way to Bethesda.
After a lunch break we followed the cycle route up to Ogwen and then Capel Curig.
A shop for Dringo's ;D
The wild camp spot is down there and I was in hope that the beers I stashed earlier in the week were still there
Home for the night
Supper
Now this was supper
Boiled new potatoes, flamed grilled Welsh lamb chops served with fresh Rosemary
All washed down with the ale. And to stop me from being the midges supper a net was called for
After the rain started at around 10 on Saturday night it never stopped Morning view
Morning brew
With the rain getting heavier it was time to break camp and head to Pinnacle cafe for when they opened at 8.
A very nice brekkie but unfortunatly I was to see it again 20 minutes later
And so came the journey home. And it was different to the day before. It was like a winters day out there. We then headed to Cowlyd
And now as well as us the camera started to get wet
Spirits were still high
Then it was past Coedty and onwards and upwards to Cae Coch and Tal y Fan again
And thats you lot. We never had the pint on the Quay as we were baltic so maybe next time.
Cheers John
