Some one recently told me to check out Mynydd in Bangor? Anyone able to give me directions to the trail? Is it worth going to?
or is it a wind up, as "mynydd" is just "mountain" in welsh!

so how come you guys are so tediously unhelpful with this stuff?
New to the sport, don't know many trails, need help, come to the local mtb forum and just get snobbed. Nice.

I'm not sure its a case of getting snubbed, but I don't think that any of the guys or gals on here have had the opportunity to meet and ride with you yet. It's really the backbone of the forum! Why not get yourself on the next forum ride and get to know some of the people that could help you, in the same respect that you feel snubbed they may feel "we don't know this guy at all" Maybe it works both ways, just a thought

I don't think it's a matter of people on here being 'so tediously unhelpful'. Out of all the people on here, there are probably only a certain percentage that actually know where these downhill trails are. What you will find is that the downhill fraternaty are very protective of their trails, and rightly so. Most of these trails are built on private land, or land that they have no right to ride, and as such the last thing they want is for the location of their trails to be posted up on a public forum. The next thing you know, there are a lot more people turning up to ride them and then compromising their location. As soon as this happens the land owner, who may not mind the odd one or two people turning up, gets pissed off with an increase in people riding on his land and then destroys the trails and bans all riders from his land. There is also the fact that the guys who ride the trails are those that have put the time and effort into building them. These trails do not build themselves, and a lot of hard manual labour goes into putting the trails in place. Why should they put all the work in just so everyone else can turn up and ride them ? With this in mind, I can understand why they are not too keen to publicise their locations. Why not PM some of the downhill lot and try and meet up with them for a bit of digging, this way you not only get to know the trails, but you get to know the riders and they get to know you. Hope this helps and goes some way to explaining why you are encountering some resistance in your quest to find the DH trails. And just for the record, I have no idea where they are as DH is not my thing

I completely understand all of what you said and agree. Having built trails and helped maintain trails myself to see them be destroyed (strangely after some guys off this forum posted all their photos from a day out up there up!!).
On a previous thread within "trails" i'd already said i'd help build and maintain, and requested people contact via inbox for obvious reasons...hence the "snubbing" comment.
Cheers
