Giro hex, fits me well, not too heavy, and plenty of vents

The hex seems like a lot of lid of the cash, might have a sniff at them

The giro xen is 30-40 quid dearer than the hex and people who ive spoken to that own them say they arent worth the extra cash over the hex

Hex for me too - think mine's the 2007 as it was only £35 from allterraincycles when I bought it in August.

Giro indicator is cheap, provides enough insulation to keep your head warm and has enough vents to stop overheating. Been off 3 times on the road and it's fine (although I'm not sure I hit my head) and it's fine for stopping branches scalping you!
The plastic visor bit at the front isn't particularly good for attaching headtorches to as I found out the other night.

Giro Animas, mincey XC lid. Same lid as martin, looks the biz Very light and well ventilated but I feel that it sits a bit high on my head and doesn't give great coverage. Think the MRS is going to get me the MET Kaos Ultimalite for Xmas.

What lids do you guys and gals use and how do you find them? Oh butt - cheapest thing I could get to fit me, from halfords in Cwmbran, in 1998 (make is "Trax" or something like that - had to buy a rack for the car as well, so was counting the pennies). Looks like you've got a mushroom on your head, ranges from uncomfortable to mildly torturous and I would imagine it is about as much use as having a flowerpot on your head, but it's only my noggin and as Mam always says - no brains; no headaches!! Tidy darts.

Fox Flux comfy and fitted my bonce better than others I tried, seems to sit lower and covers the back of my head more than the other lids.

If you value your shiny whites, then go for the Met Parachute for the extra £20 you get a detachable chin guard which is easily removable and split in half so you can carry them flat in your back pack if you don't want them on. or leave em at home on easy rides. Light, cool and grat facial protection
