Early days but no regrets on 29 so far. Not heard anyone else who bought one say they wish they'd stuck with 26 either. Can't really comment on 650B although on basis of a short demo back to back with a 29 wheel I wasn't really convinced, but I'd be quite happy to be proved wrong.

It took a little while to get use to my 29er but once you get to grips with it I like it

I was 29er curious last year, I read the neigh sayers read the praise, I've not had any instance of regret infact my 26" bike was left unused for 6 months or so as I prefered it.
You can tell it has bigger wheels in very tight switchback for examples but I have found that in being smooth its not an issue more something to be concious of, other than its been a very positive transition infact my 29er is up there in my top 3 bikes I've had. Before any one says I have had more than 3 :-)

I've got a 29er hardtail, 26 6" full suss all mountain and a 26 long travel hardtail. All 3 ride completely different to each other but all in a good way.
I use the 29 for riding to work and long rides out as I see as a perfect mile cruncher, my full suss is good for all day rides but takes a bit more effort to slog around but is an absoloute hooligans toy so is first choice for my local rough rides. The 26 long travel hardtail sits some in-between(oddly enough)gets used on the longer more tech rides.
I did get the stopwatch out not so long ago and rode each bike on a local loop - tarmac climbs, open moorland, sheeptrails, forest singletrack, knarly downhills and tech singletrack climbs - and all three were pretty much even on the times.
I'd say I enjoy the full suss the most by far but pushing the limits on the 29er has improved my speed etc no end.

Thanks for all your replies , was a bit concerned about the lack of nimbleness but nothing said here to concern me to much. Edging towards a canyon nerve 9.9 just got to pester some unsuspecting soul out on the trails to have a quick blast on their's (well hoping ) thanks again, ps bound to be more questions nearer the time
