Hi all, Been speaking to Karl about his trip to the French Alps (Les Gets) this year and seeing as they had such a good time he has booked the same accomodation again for 2 weeks next summer, with Sharon, Megan, Sue & Jake. He has booked one side of the chalet already but has kindly invited anyone else who wants to join them to book the other side of the chalet, adjoining the one they are staying in. I'm definitely up for going, but to make it economical, I would have to share the cost of the chalet with other forum members. It sleeps a maximum of 6 (twin bed, sofa bed & double bed), but obviously would be a bit more comfortable with 4 or 5 people. So just throwing it out there to see if anyone else is interested in joining us and sharing? The dates are Friday 1st August to Saturday 16th August 2014. As mentioned it is a two week stay, but people could come out just for a week if they want. I would be travelling over by car on the Eurotunnel, however won't be able to car-share. Alternatively you can look at flights over. Here is a link to the chalet-we will be staying in Side B: www.chalet-julienne.com/ There are some 2013 prices on there as well, to give you a rough idea of prices for a week.

Looking at my rota We could do the 2nd week 9th-16th, Trace doesn't know yet but I'll just gag her and throw her in the boot....she likes that Fingers crossed now that my rota doesn't change as there's shift changes afoot..... it would just be bloody typical if I got moved!

Hi Mike,
It is £570 for the week for the chalet we are hiring (chalet B), and the price for each person will obviously depend upon how many people are going, at the moment I have provisionally 2 people accompanying me for each week. There is also the cost of the lift pass and bed linen, plus ferry or tunnel fare + motorway tolls and fuel. Hope this gives you an idea.

Last year prices as follows
Fuel approx £90 diesel each way Tolls £75 each way Tunnel £130 free with tesco club points Lift pass £90 for 7 none consecutive days
Obviously the travel costs are reduced if you have 2 or more in the car - clever eh!!
The other option is to fly yourself and your bike to Geneva and hire a car for the week but I think the prices are comparable.

Driving also adds 20hrs to the journey and a stop overnight (hotel) is required unless you share driving a go straight through. Easy to Fly to Geneva 1.5 hrs, drive 1.5 hrs, done
We took two families out there last year and stayed the second week in a shared chalet with Karl etc and it was great. The kids had a great time too, 2 3 year olds and 2 six year olds. We drove down and spent the first week riding, there is a great climbing crag near morzine too Gwen. 800ft via ferrata too or bolted climbs.
Second week we drove futher north for a family based hol, rather than me riding and running away from responsibilities.
Anyhow,if you have never done it before, go. £110 each for a weeks holiday, you can't get a train to London for that.
Karl takes enough spares for everyone so if you fly its about £60 with easyjet.

Hi Carl, have already provisionally booked the chalet and paid the deposit It will be Me, Iggy & Trace for the first week and possibly Tarbo & Sandi for the second week. The chalet sleeps 6, so at the moment there is space on both of the weeks.
Will be at the forum ride, so we can talk about it a bit more then.

Well that's us out of this trip, gutted but will have to take it on the chin, having a big shuffle of shifts at work due to new lads starting with lack of experience so my shift pattern is changing by a week.
Everything happens for a reason as I'm still not well enough to ride 2 days running, it's for the best I suppose. Not worried about the deposit as it's tough shi'ite on my part. Hope you all have a cracking hol.

Sorry to hear you and Trace can't make it, your company will be missed. I understand you're still recovering and it would be a tough week for you especially with all the travelling on top.
On a different subject hopefully you'll be able to organise one of your Lake District trips later this year-it would be a shame not to get one in.
