I know it's been asked time and again, but here go's ;-) I'm after stand alone bike insurance, well that's what I think I'm after or would it be better to get it under house insurance, the only problem being I probably won't be keeping it at my address , any recommendations , thanks.

My bikes are all insured up to £2500 each under my house insurance and they are covered no matter where they are as long as they are locked to a secure point. Aviva content insurance. Bikes come as standard. No matter how many bikes you have. They have even agreeded that they are insured in the van ?

Read the small print on that Susan,i know some1 insured their bike under house insurance and the Max they pay out is £1,100 per bike, his bike was half inched out of the garage and was worth £2,500. You have to go to a insurance broker to cover you for that amount me thinks

Hi Smithy. No Aviva def cover up to £2500 they even covered me when I flew the bike out to Bulgaria, but as it says in their FQ&A you need to add the cycle cover to your policy. I just had to take photos to prove that it was packed correctly in case I needed to claim. Of course you will loose your excess but that depends on how much voluntary you have asked for Attachments:

M&S always used to be well known for covering bikes up to 4k£ on their standard policy without naming them, but they reduced this to 1k£ recently unless you list the bikes individually. I was expecting a big bill when I did but they were very competitive and by changing the excess slightly I got it back down to what we were paying before. Still worth a look...
