Giant trance fork replacement

Anyone on here got a giant mtb with their overdrive 2 headset? I'm after changing my fork and am struggling to find one which fits their 1.5" to 1.25 taper instead of the standard 1 and 1/8 taper. I've read that you can change the headset for a standard tapered one and then use any tapered fork, anyone got any experience of this?
