I can only use halfords for my cycle to work scheme Even though you may have to use Halfords I don't think you'll have to only buy the bikes they normally sell. We used to have to go through Halfords at our place but we weren't restricted to their stock lines hence I got some Hope lights via Halfords on the C2W. They're simply a conduit for the scheme. I'd recommend you find a bike you're interested in and meets the criteria i.e. £1,000 or less and then go to Halfords and check with them if they can get you it on the scheme. Ref. fat bikes. I personally wouldn't have one unless we were guaranteed a min of 3 months snow each year although there's a certain person on here who'll give them the thumbs up. I eat enough fat without riding it.

I've had a C2W bike through Halfords in the past and they pointed me to Leisure Lakes to buy the bike, Halfords only administered the purchase.

Been say for a while now but Fat bikes are the future, whether its 4" or 5" tyres but with the introduction of the B+ (3") tyre widths the mtb is evolving. I've had my Salsa Mukluk for a year and a half and its bloody awesome. Yes it would be fantastic if we had 3 months of snow but there're also great on the beach!! I'm currently testing riding a full suss fat bike and that is just phenomenal!! But I'll let you know when the full review is published the fat bike they have their is called a coyote Fatman I think any advice would be great thanks The Coyote is a cheap fat bike but with that you get a very heavy bike I was in Scotland for the Forth Fat meet a few weeks back and a guy had one, I think it weighed in at 44lbs!!!! Not sure on your budget but try checking out these sub £1000 bikes, Genesis Caribou, Charge Cooker, On One Fatty, & Felt double double.
