At a guess up the fireroads from the Lower Moel Famau Forest car park, if you follow the right ones they bring you out halfway up Vomit Hill (Climb up around Ffrith) where you pick up the Moel Famau bridlepath then from there you have a choice of lots of trails, but at a guess you followed the ridgeline along the Offa's. Have they started the logging in the forest yet, there were some signs up last week saying that one of the roads was going to be closed till June due to it

We met up at the Moel Fammau car park, (the one you have to put a £1 in the barrier) above Loggerheads, then round the fireroads following the Moel Fammau Loop from RideTheClwyds. Then where that route starts to descend, we turned up the hill towards the top. Walkers seem to get a bit angry if you go near the top where bikes aren't permitted which is fair enough, so we steered clear of there. There are a few signposts telling you were you can and can't go, so we kinda followed those then headed back to join the Moel Fammau Loop again. They had started logging, so a couple of small bits of the fireroad were covered in smaller offcuts which were fairly slippery, but nothing worth putting anyone off from riding there. Rob, I'll be doing this a few times over xmas I reckon, let me know if you fancy it

I've got 3 weeks off over Xmas so up for a ride or two, willing to show a few trails as well, there's some great legal stuff up there if you know where to look.
