It was a pleasant surprise to find 12 of us ready for today's ride. Probably the need to get rid of some of that festive excess had a bit to do with it Numbers soon dwindled as a couple of mechanicals took their toll and we were soon just 8 of us making our way out of the Hafna Mines and onto a new (to us) trail that I have been meaning to try. However, biking up it and running up it are two totally different things and it didn't take long before I could hear people cursing me between breaths as we hit the steep climb It didn't last long and we were soon at the top and threading our way over some slippery roots towards the next section. This proved a bit better for riding and we were soon back onto familiar territory. We then made our way to the Geirionydd via one of the trails that we know before picking up another 'new to us' fire road which eventually brought us back onto The Marin. From there we stuck to the official trail back to the car park, apart from Sam who shot off on one of the fire roads for a play on one of the many DH trails in the area. A really good day of exploring and putting more pieces of the jigsaw in place. Thanks to all that turned up and were willing to go with the flow and not worry about where we were. I took quite a few pictures which I'll post up once I've re-acquainted myself with Photobucket I'm hoping to do a few more of this type of riding this year as I want to get back to enjoying the riding without feeling the need to hammer everything
