After posting in the Plan yer Rides section that I was doing a real MTB ride, I was quite shocked that only 1 other turned up. Thanks to Andy for accompanying me on what has to be one of the best rides/walks in North Wales. And as a bonus he turned up on a fat bike. With fine weather this one is a belter. Carnedd Llewellyn (x2) Carnedd Dafydd (x2) Pen Yr Ole Wen and Andy also bagged Foel Fras, Foel Grach, Carnedd Ugain & Drum, well done Andy (I went home for my tea!). The pics don't do it justice as it was better than it looks So for those of you MTBing around a forest on this sunny day, here's what its like on a mountain
Big thanks to Jeff for showing me the route up to the ridge, and for the company. You could not have wished for better weather or a better setting - an absolutely stunning day. The route from Carnedd Llewelyn down to Pen Yr Ole Wen and back seemed like a good idea at the time, but it turned out to be, err... character building . No regrets, though - it was a cracking ride, and immensely satisfying. I think I'll be turning right at Llewelyn if when I go up there again - the ride down over Foel Grach, Carnedd Uchaf, Foel Fras and Drum is pretty good - I didn't have to carry or push the bike hardly at all .
