I really loathe wearing my lid on the mountain bike but I suppose this brings it home why we should. Looks like you had a lucky escape mate. Good choice with the parachute as well, tidy idea that one. I like the thought of having something other than your face to grind along the floor when it all goes tits up. ;D

I have the Met Parachute in the Hawaiin design - it's pretty cool . They are a great helmet and come well rated. The only thing I struggle with is I find my breathing a little restricted in the hot weather - mainly on the climbs when you want some fresh air coming in but you just seem to get the warm air bouncing back from the chin guard. However, a small price to pay if it keeps your teeth in place ;D

can you not remove the chin guard for the less trickyer rides? Yeh i do sometimes - just use my other helmet for the less trickyer rides normally. The chin guard does come off easy and quickly but once it's off it tends to stay in the shed for a bit until i can be bothered to stick it back on
