That's the problem. I've got 2 in my vicinity and one of them is reasonably helpful (depends on who you speak to in the shop) and the other lbs hasn't got any customer service awards whatsoever.
It's a shame because these shops could be more like little communities in their own right if the attitude is right.

Hi Gav, I've just got back into mountain biking and also got a carrera vulcan, 2006. Not bad bike to be fair although the cheap forks really let it down. Currently looking to get a better xc bike but holding off till my work sign up for the "cycle to work" scheme so I can save myself 40% tax on part of it.
Anyways, welcome.
Joe

Hi Joe which forks you got? Mine are suntour xcm the same as on my mates vulcan . May upgrade them at a later date to rockshox as when i was younger i used to lust after them (sound wrong?) Wish i could get the cycle to work scheme they d think i was taking the p**s as i sign in my van outside the house!

Ha, yeah, for sure. You could say you keep the bike in the back of the van? ha ha ha
Got the suntour XC50 on mine. Not bad for a budget set really but they do have a nasty harsh top out when you're pushing them which can sometimes throw you offline. I found stiffening them up helps dampen the problem but a better set would certainly improve the bike. Was looking at a set of Fox f100's but thought better of it and decided a new ride would be a better idea.
