Well what a day to start 2009, a little bit on the fresh side at home -7 it looked like it had snowed.
Arrived later than planner at 1040 and the weather was stunning with no frost just a Baltic east wind at the bottom and was away at 11.00.
The route was easy to follow and only 2 gates to open and all was going well i had reached point 5 at 6km in 1hr 45m i felt great until it came for the final 2km to the summit that was what you can call emotional, hiking the bike all the way up nearly broke me!!! the paths were not in a good state, loads of loose rock, boulders it zig zag ed up and the summit never got closer.
So 1hr later an 2km covered i nearly sacked it at one point but pushed on i finally got there only for my camera batteries to die on me GUTTED!!! but thanks to the Wardens on the top to which we had a good 45min natter and who are also keen mountain bikers he lent me 2 batteries so i didn't come all that way up to get nothing thanks guys.
The summit was like being in to different worlds, beautiful and clear to the west, beatifual was foggy to the east.
Now the decent well it was rocky as hell, big boulders to negotiate through, loose rock with no grip, the last bit was all grass and no real flow with loads of big ruts not to mention ice and then on the farm track back down to the car, the summit may have been worth but didn't think much of the decent.
So my final view is now iv done it im not eager to do it again, i got back to the car without a smile on my face, maybe because it was frozen ;D but in all honesty i didnt think much of the decent.
Oggy if your planning on doing it good luck on the last section with the VP you will cry literally ;D
Some pics
Is the summit near there?
No its all the way up there!!!
The view East.
The view West
Just to prove i got there ;D
Went through some water on the way down and it turned to ice
Then a had a look over the bike to see if the chain ring was missing any teeth after hitting loads of rocks and it was fine but this wasnt
As the sun sets over the hills its time to leave.
