Anyone riden Cwmcarn in South Wales?
What did you think of it?
There's a bus service that takes your bike up to the top for lazy ones who don't want to do the uphill!
Looks good from video footage.

I rode it in October with a few mates and we prefered it to Glyncerriog, we did the XC route, so we did'nt use the uplift but it looked very popular. Where else have you ridden.

That must be some venue Ady. Did White's Level at Glyncorrwg last year and thought that was excellent. Did The Wall at Afan next day, which was a good xc run. Not tried Cwmcarn yet but looks very good

Video footage?? What about the time I drove you there in my car, to show you what it looked like? MTBing must be shortening your memory.

I've only been MTBing since last March so not been to many places. Only riden at Llandegla, Delamere, Nercwys, Erddig & Marin.

Are there any trails at Erddig? I'm not too keen on the main cycle route through there because riding any of it quickly has always been out of the question - when I've been there's too many people taking their dogs out for a s**t ;D

I used to ride a fast section of bridlepath near me, when I wanted a quick blast, but avoiding the excrement required that much concentration, it stopped you finding little jumps and ruts etc. Not as bad as horses, admittedly, but there's a much bigger population of the lovely little waggers!!

Are there any trails at Erddig? There are walking routes in Erddig but there aren't that many people about. There's not so much of a problem with doggie dos. More an issue with cow pats. And it can get quite boggy there too.

Rode the DH at Cwmcarn, it's pretty good, some techy stuff, some steeps and some flat out big jumps. Everything was rollable, and the uplift very comfy. :-) Will on the big hip at the bottom.

rode the twrch trail at cwm carn last sat and i think i expected more, its a tech uphill of about 8 k with only a couple of wide path sections , mostly rocky and plenty of roots to tackle but not a problem and a good warm up,once you reach the top theres a freeride section one way and the trail to choose from. Lots of tightish berms and stumps to catch you out if to fast and a good speed to be had on the single track which goes around the back of the mountain which drops away to the left really steep, some good jumps to be had also off the natural humps along the trail , the last down section to the carpark is fast and flowing with good dirt jumps. All along the trail there are wooden narrow stops that you have to thread ya bike through, pain but not a big problem and its only 15 k so its all over a bit quick , very natural feel to the trail but in my opinion i prefer degla or c-y-b but they are all different in one way or the other.
