Anyone seen the Snowdon article in this month's MBR? I've ridden Snowdon twice but both times we have used the Llanberis Path for the ascent and the descent. Descending via the Snowdon Ranger Path sounds like a lot more fun! The weather for the H4H ride back in April was a bit pants, i'd love to get up there again on a nice clear day. Even better if there was a bit of snow up at the top. Do you reckon this could this be a future Forum Ride?

Last time I did it (1980) I went up the Miners track and came down the Watkin path - the decent was a bit sporting on a rigid frame. To be honnest the whole experience was mostly like walking up the hill carrying a bike than actually riding it.

...Of course riding footpaths is a lot less PC today than it was back then :-)
I guess I'd be up for slogging up and down again in the open season, I'd never get 'er indoors to go for it but she can look after the dogs and call for gas and air when I get down.

...Of course riding footpaths is a lot less PC today than it was back then :-) There are three legal ways up / down Snowdon - Llanberis Path Snowdon Ranger Path Rhyd Ddu Path All three are bridleways so can be ridden

Never taken a bike up or down Snowdon, seems far too much effort to get up there!! Can you get the bike on the train and ride down?

If you have good weather it wont be that hard just a casual ride/walk, on the H4H ride the first part was fine until you pass the half way house where the weather turned nasty but still there was a few sections in the wind that were still rideable but i didnt feel as bad as doing the 1st section of the Marin.
