hello all, can anyone recommend a decent mini pump + cycle computer? I've had mini pumps before that have been a nightmare to use so I want something that will be comfortable to pump and up to the job. It will live in the backpack so size isn't that important really. For the computer I would prefer wireless, just so it's neater, but i've read quite a few reports of them giving miss readings so not sure. Just want basic speed, distance, average speed etc + i'm a bit of a tightwad so nothing too flash! ;D I've seen that Aldi are doing a cheap one tomorrow but not sure how reliable it would be. thanks for any recommendations, ben

Hi Ben, Ive just bought a wireless computer from Wiggle for my road bike, Its a no-frills one and does the basics, see the link below. www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Cateye_Vectra_Wireless_Cycle_Computer/5360018180/I was looking at the cheap ones in Lidl and Aldi but figured that Id go for a decent make to be on the safe side. Its pretty accurate too, I think it all depends in the set up, the closer you have the computer itself to the sensor the better for accuracy. As for pumps, Ive just bought a small crank Bros pump to stick in my waist bag. It has 2 pump settings on it, High pressure and High volume, been told its pretty good but Ive not had the pleasure of using it yet so cant tell you how good it is. Have a look at the link, see what you think. www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Crank_Brothers_Power_Pump/5360013735/You can see the pump in the link below on top of my waist pack, not much bigger than the power gel sachet! northwalesmtb.proboards85.com/index.cgi?board=kit&action=display&thread=122

I have the same Pump as Martin has. Its had multiple good reviews, but i find it awkward to use, and that was while testing it out at home. God knows how worse it'll be halfway through a trail in the driving rain

Thanks for the responses. The crank brothers one does look well made but thanks sikora I was wondering how comfortable it would be to use. That topeak looks really good though thanks ftasb. I will hunt around for one at a good price. Still looking at computers, the one that martinw linked to looks to be pretty good for the money. thanks for the help, ben

I have a Blackburn pump, Blackburn have been making pumps for a long time and have gained a large following in the pump world ;D Would recomend them for a long lasting quality bit of kit at not a bad price

Not used it on the other type that is on my 'Hopper. So you might find its ok.

Thanks all for the input. I don't think I will have any problems with being too fast for the computer! ;D I will add the blackburn pumps to the list to have a look at. I will probably pop in to some shops tommorow and see if I can have a play with some to see how they are to use. I'm tempted to go to aldi and get their £12 wireless computer, if it really is crap then its not too much money to loose, will have a look and see how robust it looks. Thanks again for the reply's, hopefully tommorow I will be able to get out and get the bike dirty, depends how tired I am after my nightshift tonight though.

I bought the Aldi wired comp and it's great. Was only £4.99. It's got everything, including temperature.
