What about doing a 24 hour event at Llandegla? I'm sure for a one off they would staff the cafe all night. I reckon we could probably pitch tents somewhere nearby, especially with all the trimming they have been doing lately...
With 200 members we could easily get £10k between us, even just doing 4 or 5 laps would be an enduro!!!

How do you mean? Like get it from say Llandegla to CyB riding the distance in between all the places? There's a lot of road to cover, but it could probably be made 50/50 with a bit of planning. Doing some bits overnight sounds fun too. Could do a team relay around one of the trails. The item should be something silly and have to be carried somewhere visible to everyone ;D (inflatable sheep?) I'm liking the sound of this I just thought that some kind of relay either at a trail centre or place to place would be a great team effort and give others a break while others carried on so the sponsor ship money would keep on rolling!! Could I also suggest (totally off my own back) that as Martin and Oggy and others run this website in their spare time and cover the costs themselves, that an amount is agreed out of the sponsorship money to put towards the running of the website for the next 12 months so the guys are not out of pocket! I'm not suggesting huge amounts but enough to help keep the site going! Afterall we don't pay a membership to be on here! The guys do a great job on here and it needs to be recognised! It seems a bit unfair they should be out of pocket! I know they do this because they enjoy it and I must absolutely stress that this will be the first they hear of this idea and have not complained etc once for giving us this fab forum!! Thank you guys!

The 24 hour event at Llandegla is a great idea and will separate the men from the boys, especially if we can sort out tents and food. I think we could invite other forum clubs to join us, the more sponsorship money the better. I also think funding this forum would be a good shout maybe any profits from the car park or a BBQ could go towards it rather than interfering with any sponsorship money. This is already creating a stir and I only suggested it yesterday! LETS GET IT ORGANIZED!

The 24hour event theme sounds good, you dont even need to be super fit to do it, me and mikebike did 1 in the lake district last year and neither of us were really fit, if its ridden in relay you should be ok and with it being a trail centre even better, the course we did was 11.5 miles a lap over the moors mostly and the biggest downfall we had was the start line was a 20 minute uphill walk from the campsite.

No, you're not alone, I think the 1st 3 mile at llandegla needs a touch of variation and the last 1-2 miles of the red before it rejoins the blue gets a bit tedious.

It takes me an hour to get to llandegla which is my closest trail centre. My local riding is Delamere

I've ridden it less than five times, and a couple of times a year is more than enough for me. Having said that, i'd like to do a night ride there at some point

Overnight at Degla would break the conditions of their planning permission. How about a crossing Wales. 100km route with some decent wilderness road and offroad sections Oswestry to Barmouth via Wayfarer, Bala, Mountain road, CyB Dolgellau and Mawddach Trail. GPX File

I've ridden it all just not at the same time or even on the same bike. I've also done a similar all tarmac route on the road bike in 6 hrs which was at a relaxed pace so I reckon 10 hrs would be more than enough to allow for rest stops & the like. There's nothing technically demanding. It would be best done when there's a bit of light in the day so we could take our time with a few beer stops along the way. There's quite a high percentage of tarmac to make it easier than all offroad but only a mile or two on main roads.
People would also be able to do sections if they didnt feel up to the whole ride plus there's plenty of bailout options if someones really struggling. If there was enough doing it I'm sure I could arrange a sag wagon/support vehicle if enough were willing to chip in for petrol.

Train back?
100k in a day could be do-able, might not want 2.5 inch tyres front an back ;D
Would the route take in a trail centre, such as CYB, even one of the shorter trails?

Right click on the GPX file link and save it to your PC. Then drag and drop it into Google Earth to see here it goes. Setting off from Oswestry, it takes in some classic Berwyn riding in the form of the Wayfarer then heads along Bala lake before heading up the mountain road that goes from Llanywchllyn to Trawsfynydd. Just as you get to the highest point of this road you turn left and drop down through the forest to the top end of CyB before taking in the Adams Family descent and a stop at Dolfrwynog Cafe for some cake. The route then heads through the forest to Dolgellau before taking the Mawddach trail down to the sea. I'd get a lift home with the support car if It's one of my mates or by train (free pass) if anyone else knows of someone they can rope into it in the name of charidy. What the SP with that community minibus Oggy. Obviously petrol costs would be covered.
