Went for a ride yesterday up toward rhosgadfen quarry and came across one the best rides Ive had.Just outside Waunfauwr past the snow don theres a road heading up to rhos gadfen its a steep climb. At the top just after the cattle grid turn left on to rough ground .I would say 7 miles of the off road Ive done was there,I headed toward what looks like a load of rocks (some carrying is needed) once at the top sit and look at view. Then theres a forest over the other side of the Heather its got be the best single track Ive ridden past two forest. at this point was at the bottom of the elephant mountain,This were it got more challenging the best and most challenging descent Ive ever done through every bit ofdiffrent terrain i could think of ,fast technical and in places hair raising it finishes on the beddgelert road .Its got to be the best 3 hours on a bike Ive done

Done something similar to this in reverse. Started off at the Snowdon Ranger car park, cycled to the campsite at the Rhyd Ddu end of the lake and then carried the bike right up the shoulder of Mynydd Mawr, which was a killer cos its so steep and long. Cycled the last bit to summit where it gets very rocky. The views are magnificent and you can see the top of Telegraph Valley opposite. The descent down Mynydd Mawr is awesome; loose, rocky, twisty, technical, fast and it just goes on and on. Varied terrain and a good quarry section to finish. Went down the steep tarmac into Waunfawr and had a few beers in the Snowdonia Parc (there was a real ale festival on) before cycling back to the car park. Makes a great good weather ride
