Hi Guys going up to kendal this thursday we have an northern engineering meeting. I have taken friday off to go biking. I am going to ride either North face trail at Grizdale or the new Altura trail near Keswick. Has anybody ridden these trails and what do you think.

Dont quote me but ive heard the north face is a bit of a touristy type trail but the altura is ment to be really good. From what I have read i would ride the altura, but then again dont listen to me coz i aint actually rode either ;D

I have done the North Face trail and it was pouring with rain when we rode it and were not that impressed so I wouldnt rush back, would rather try the Altura as it looks a bit more technical. Mind you with all the great natural stuff up there it would be a shame not to take advantage. Flatyres should have a number of routes.

Hi Ady would love to do some natural stuff but I haven't got a gps system and would hate to be lost on my own and ending crying like a baby on side of a mountain :-( .

Ask if you can try before you buy!

Thats just fooked up your future passes,I'd buy her that sofa quick, get yourself down to the M & S sofa 2nds place near Greenfield. Plenty of change then for a GPS. ;D

I've done the north face several times, its worth a ride as you are in the area, its as good as Llandegla and Marin. I'm by no means fit, actually I'm unfit and I've done two laps there before now. not tried Altura yet but it got a good write up in MBUK.

I rode the Altura north loop the week before last. Its a really good, technical trail. I found it really tough in places. It has a lot of loose rock (with sharp drops to the side), and roots. Excellent tho, well worth the drive. I've got lots of pics if you wanted to see. Am hoping to go up again soon to do the south loop. My fella has done the Northface. He wasnt that keen to be honest.
