Heard reports that a lot of the rough ride is on grass which is very energy sapping. Maybe the Meridas?

I done 1 rough ride 2 years ago, I didn't do it last year and I haven't signed up this year.
What I found out 2 years ago
Loads of climbing on grass the flat bits were all ripped up by 4x4's into ruts that were impossible to ride along. They don't have a monster climb like the merida's at the start to spread the field out so its bottle necks everywhere. If your planning to arrive the day before be aware all day opening hasn't arrived in Kington year all the pubs shut at 2pm. We arrived planning to have pub lunch and ended up getting a pastie from the news agents!
Good luck things may be better now
