is it me or these tyres!!!!!!!!! got shwalbe rocket rons on the front and racing ralphs on the back and I seem to be spending a lot of time sliding and slpping and today I came off and hurt my new bike I've let the suspension down a bit so that feels better;and let some air out as they came with 40lbs in which i thought was a bit much help!before my nerve goes!!!!!!!

Cant comment on the rocket ron but I once had a racing ralph, anything that was wet or looked like mud put me on my backside.

You could put your old tyres on the new bike if you were happy with their performance. I tend to stick to the same ones as they handle predictably and i'm used to them

It's your tyres. Rocket Ron's and Racing ralphs are pure XC tyres designed for low rolling resistance (speed) and not grip. I use Nobby Nic's on my XC bike and find them fast and relatively grippy but they're pretty wild around the Marin in the wet. My advice would be to get rid of them and get a grippy all rounder like some 2.1 Nevegals or similar, you'll lose some speed uphill and on the fireroad but you'll gain much improved control/manners on the singletrack.

Since I hanged my back tyre to a 2.1 nevegal I can't get up a steep climb without it spinning. Great excuse for getting off and walking though

thanks for that guys. I put my old tyres on it today - the front one is very similar to the nevegal- and put the pressures down to 30. no probs today on tal y fan .will see what happens on trails on Monday
