Done the MBR. Dragons Back a bit too long for me at the moment, so quite fancy trying the Tarw sometime soon. Whats it like?

IMO not really that good. We did it a while back and it felt like a lot of slogging up fireroads. There is some fun quite rocky singletrack though. I'd stick to the MBR and then if you want to add something do the start (pinderosa?) again but carry on as if your doing dragons back to do the nice flowy bermy singletrack. Then you can choose to cut back to the centre or carry on and do temptirw.

I don't mind it. The singletrack is rockier than on the mbr.
I'd at least give it a go to see if you like it - you don't have to do it again if you don't.

It's rocky and doesn't really flow in my opinion. I won't bother riding it again personally, although it will test you technically. It's not one of those trails that'll have you grinning from ear to ear at the end.

Ive done it once and can't really remember much of it so I guess I couldn't have enjoyed it as much as the other trails at Coed y Brenin. BIts I can remember are the slog up the fireroad only to come down a fire road (bad) Flight path near the end scary fast (good)

It's hard work on a hardtail!
There was a lot of fire road on it - think of the first climb on the Marin - and the downhill fire road bits didn't seem that fun.
There's some bits with paved rock which I found a bit tricky, but the path goes "through" a few stone walls if I remember correctly which is nice. Some of the singletrack bits were a bit too technical for me, but I might be able to do them now.
I didn't like the fact that a couple of the singletrack down hill bits dropped you out onto roads where you couldn't see if there was anything coming!
Do it if you fancy a challenge, it's probably not as bad on a full sus and in the dry! You'll feel like you've done well at the end but as Arnie says you might not want to do it again.
I've not done the dragon's back - it might be longer but a bit easier than the Tarw ;D

sikora, another option for you is to do the dragons back, but theres a big loop of firetrack that you can miss out by doing a bit of short steep climbing on a road. This probably cuts off about 5k of boring riding. The shortcut is easy to find on the trail map, brings you out at the top of gomez

A good challenging trail for the whippets out there as the technical sections distract you from the pain in your legs. ;D
Not a "fun" trail unless you're of a certain mindset.
