There's a mtb group set up in my work (we get funded ;D) and they're off to cyb in a couple of weeks to do the dragon's back. I've seen a few threads on this in the rides section, but was wondering how technical/hard it would be?
The distance is OK, not as far as penmachno (1 and 2), but how does it compare? Not sure I want to be the slowest there!!!

I think it's longer than Penmachno 1 & 2. Just do it!

You're probably right, I'll make them wait ;D I thought Penmachno was 33-34k? Feels like it by the time you get to the top of the last downhill section before the car park

I've never done the Dragon Back, but i've always been under the impression that its not as technical as the MBR, although it does follow the MBR's start and finish

Ive never done the Dragon's back as a single route only as part of the beast. If your worried about the distance you can take the short cut straight up the road after the cafe stop which cuts out a long fireroad drag. As for the techincal Im not sure whats it like now as it may of bedded in / rutted up a bit but most of the hard fun technical bits were sanitised a few years ago. People who knew what the Adam's family sections were like before will know what I mean
Do the beast and cut out the fireroad after the forest cafe

I couldn't take a short cut, I'd never live it down, mountain biking bizzies can be a pretty merciless bunch of mofo's!!!
A forest cafe you say? I think I'll be able to get at least that far, and if there's a cafe at the end, I should get back ok too ;D

Dragons back is a sweet trail, fair few climbs but the adams family sections are jut amazing, well worth the pain.

i believe penmachno is about 30k, and dragons back is 31k or something. Penmachno is harder work i think, you'll be fine on the dragons back, and it does have some really nice singletrack
