Thinking of doing the 'Telegraph Valley' route off Bikefax in the near future. The route suggests riding the Maesgwm bridleway from Llanberis to the Ranger path, meaning a gradual but long climb followed by a short sharp descent.
Is this the most 'fun' direction to do it or is it better the other way round?
Cheers

I would go down the telegraph valley, not up it.

Firstly it doesn't come under the Snowdon ban as its not on Snowdon. To ride it from Llanberis is the better option as you can then incorporate it with a trundle around Beddgelert forest.

The short sharp descent is quite steep and grassy - most people push up it, especially the first bit! Check out the photos from the forum ride last year (1st October 2008?)
I've not tried it that way around, but as Dyls says I think it would be much more fun riding down the valley.

Im another vote for riding down it. You can get some crazy speed as it isn't that rough and just launch the drainage gulleys

Cheers for the replies everyone. Sorry if I am being dull but could you please clarify which way is up and which way is down?! Should I ride from North to South towards the Ranger path or from South to North? Cheers
