Hello all I went out on the marin trail today and completed it for the first time! ;D I've only been on the trail once before when and a mate and me hired some bikes and started from the Betws-Y-Coed end. Due to lack of fitness we were knackered by half way and headed back on the forest roads to Betws. Since getting my new bike the other week I've done some road work and some light trails but this was my first proper outing.(so no laughing at my times! ;D) I really enjoyed the day but it was a real slog on the uphill sections. The descents though are excellent although quite a challenge for my skill level . I managed to get it done with a ride time of about 2.5 hours although my total time out on the trail was nearer 4 due to my numerous stops for drink, food, stopping my heart escaping through my chest wall, etc I hope the fitness will gradually improve by putting some miles in when i can, and I will get a bit braver on the descents (some of them were pretty hairy though!) Managed to get some pictures whilst I was out as the views were stunning, hope you enjoy. ben farm4.static.flickr.com/3142/2711158939_882e3debb7.jpg [/img] (click on this link if you want to see bigger versions of the pics: www.flickr.com/photos/bengoldsmith/sets/72157606426819111/)

You did well m8 and some nice pic's, I only did sections of the Marin when I first started than the complete thing once my fitness got better just takes time that opening climb does not help matters either , the final down hill sections are well worth it in the end.

Thanks John, you're not wrong about that first climb, it goes on forever. I managed to make the route a bit harder by leaving one of my water bottles at a rest stop and had to backtrack about two miles to get it, dooh.. ;D
