Just been and registered - route for 50k is pretty much as expected:
Climbs up from Ruthin to Moel Famau car park then follows the "Over the Top" route from the ridetheclwyds back down the mountain.
Climbs back up by Moel Arthur and follows the old drovers road past the top of Keegan's Lane back over to Moel Famau.
Drops down from the ridge down to the famous plank across the river.
Over to Loggerheads then back down to Ruthin.
Campbell - I reckon the plank is approx between half - 2/3rds of the way round the total route.

Results of the reconnaisance operation are in: Blue is the 50k (goes clockwise). Red is the extra loop for the 75k (this section goes anticlockwise). Drinks station at Moel Famau car park and in Loggerheads. Looks like there's a lot of riding on the A494 I'm number 2249 - seems like there are a LOT of people doing the 50k (I was 2053 and 2039 on the last two)

Blue route doesn't look right, I was out there today for a 45km trundle out on my SS, noticed a lot of sign posts, your A494 section looks all wrong, as there's route arrows pointing people up the bridleway that goes over the bridge opposite the Loggerheads County Park turning.

Not my fault ;D I took photos of the route maps. The 100k route turns off there as you suggest and does another loop. The 75k (and the 50k I think) don't do this and go up the A494! (photo of the 75km map) It would make sense for everyone to go down the bridleway off the main road, even for a little while - maybe it's a mistake on the route map.

Yeah it looks a bit bonkers having that many people on a busy road, also the bridlepath thru Loggerheads County Park is bloody busy on a Sat/Sun families with kids and none of them with any sense. Part of it is downhill with waterbars so there will be some near misses for sure. Plymog climb is a handy one to remember if you are constructing a route in the area. Also noticed where the 25km route splits off in the Forest and its not on any maps, so will get a recce at some point Came across some of the medical team out recce'ing the route today too.

Maybe there will be a last minute change and we'll go up the bridleway from Loggerheads. If we go up there, we can drop back to the A494 just before Llanferres, then take the byway/bridleway back to the Clwyd Gate off road which makes more sense to me. Maybe there's a problem with that part of the route and they've had to divert it along the main road
