Looks like they are sending you up the Old Bwlch for the tarmac climb, in previous years it's been a bit of a bottleneck with people getting off to push thereby causing others to get off n push too. It gets a hell of a lot easier once you get round the steep hairpin www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=315571&Y=359729&A=Y&Z=120

I think the profiles have been up for a while, but Selkirk was changed last minute which is why I'm not taking it as final until they put an announcement up on the website! I'd seen the 9:30 start mentioned before. Looks like we'll have to get there mega early to avoid traffic jams on that hill

I know it sounds sad but I'm really looking forward to Sunday. Should a good one like last year. Started nice and dry but 5miles from the finish it really pissed it down.

I believe it's mostly dry up there but there's still some boggy bits. If you can put up with 1-2 pushes and taking it easy on a couple of slippy bits you should be ok. Depends how slick you were planning on going though I guess!

I need to get a new back tyre, i have a couple of Maxxis Ignitors so if it stays dry i should be okay. If it starts chucking it down i might have tosee what's available at the event.

Depends how slick you were planning on going though I guess! Its a bit wet in places, but depending on the route you should be OK with standard 2.1's. Your main concern will be thorns popping your tubes. Having ridden around there lately I am thinking of going tubeless next year (Campbells budget says ghetto tubeless ;D) I was thinking of parking at the View Point in Cilcain and walking through to Moel Arthur, the route should go past there? I want to try to get some pic's, so if any of you register early post up your number so I can look out for you...

Normaly the only tyres avalible there are Schwalbe and very expensive
Im not planning very slick just bought a 2.2 race king for the rear leaving the nevgal on the front. I don't mind a bit of rear end drift but I like the front to go where I point it

Does anyone know when the online entry shuts? I know I can enter on the day but I'd rather get it sorted beforehand! My knee, shoulder and other bits of me were not happy with me riding a bike this morning

Pete, thi is what I have received from Merida:
Entries for both events: First of all there are still entries for both events and for all distances available. As this event is also fairly far away from home for us please note that we will only be able to receive postal entry forms until Thursday the 17th September. Every entry form arriving at our offices after that cannot be considered for the Ruthin round. So that still leaves a couple of days for postal entries. The online entry is still open and is rather busy. You can enter via the online facilities (http://www.mtb-marathon.co.uk/entry_forms/entry_forms.php) for the MTB Marathons and (http://www.gorebikewearsportives.com/events.php) for the GORE BIKE WEAR Road Sportives up to Friday lunch time. Please dont use the online entry after that as it will be impossible for us to incorporate the entries into the signing on lists. If you dont know if you can make it or not there is also the chance to enter on the day but please be aware of the 5 surcharge for day entries. Dont forget though that there is a special weekend ticket which includes the sportive and the marathon for a reduced price of 45.
