I've updated the earlier post about the gate on the Dragon's Back and the new signs ;D This afternoon, the Beginning of the End was closed with signs saying that repairs are being carried out due to "extensive damage" and it will be closed for several weeks. The diversion for all the trails is back along the Afon path

Had a go at Cyflym Coch trail today, took me 45 mins ;D Gives you a good taste of what CyB has to offer and I'm definitely going to go back and do the rest. I also didn't realise how close it actually is to me! Really enjoyed the Pink Heifer. It was a shame they closed the beginning to the end, could have done with that extra bit. Bugsy looked good too. Should have armed myself with a map and picked the best bits out. MBR next. My right knee and calf (sp?) seems to be giving me hell at the mo, burning on the downhills, so frustrating cos I think after my trip to the lakes Ive got more confident and I really hammered it round, without swearing at myself! Top marks go to the peeps at the bike shop there though. Got my bike set up perfectly and checked the breaks and gears etc for a tenner. Gota gloat that they said they haven't seen a cleaner chain cassette than mine in years But I do treat it better than my car!

Does anyone know when the new blue trails are due to open at CyB? They look perfect for my kids!

Does anyone know when the new blue trails are due to open at CyB? They look perfect for my kids! i think it will be a while, they only announced they were going to build them the other day! Will they be blue graded? I thing i read said they would be 'beginner' routes which made me think they would be green, but blue would make more sense.

When I was last there I spoke to one of the young mechanics and he thought they'd be opening some time in the New Year. They're definitely blue graded according to him. He said they had a gap in their trail network, with some gfreen graded stuff for families and then too much of a jump between the rest of their red trails.

That link above explains it quite well. There is also now a new Coed y Brenin Facebook page, so check it out for the latest news and updates. www.facebook.com/pages/Coed-y-Brenin/136123803074740The first phase of the blue trail will hopefully be completed by Easter.

We saw Andy Braud (NW MTB Ranger) at Coed y Brenin cafe and had some interesting news from him. Depending on budget it's looking like now that Minotaur, the skill park and the new building have been completed at CYB other trails are going to be upgraded and redesigned! The candidates are the much needed improvements to the Tarw and the Marin trails. Good news indeed, as the Tarw is one of my favorite trails at CYB.

Hope they are sympathetic to the Tarw love that trail for its rough and readiness, don't want it to be made too smooth

I was talking to Mark from the Cafe on the Dragonsback/Beast and he reckons they'll be doing something on the shite bit between his cafe and Gomez. Fingers crossed....

Andy Braun said a couple of weeks back his next plan is to build some singletrack on the pointless loop after the halfway cafe to encourage more people up there. As with everything it's all down to funding. It needs something up there

Yes, it's going to be non stop singletrack from the summit down to the start of Gomez.
