Whilst in Scotland a very tired Taffydoo ran out of food halfway round the GT Black.so i donated some flapjack, I think he enjoyed it an asked for the recipe, so here goes
You will need: golden syrup 2-5 table spoons brown sugar 2 table spoons butter 50g porridge oats about 300-500g mixed dried fruit couple of hand fulls banana 1 chocolate bar about 400g(optional) (i have no scales so it's a little bit hit an miss, but at least you get something different each time)
1. melt the butter in a pan, then add about 3 tbs of golden syrup and all sugar, stir until melted(ish) 2.slowly add porridge and more syrup if required (depends on taste) 3. once you get sick of stirring mush up the banana and add with the mix fruit, stir a little more 4. place in tray an stick in over at about 150c for 10-15 mins 5. if you fancy it melt some chocolate bars and pour on the top
any one else got other rocket fuel foods?

300g rolled oats 225g sugar (brown is good but can use any) 225g butter
Plus whatever extra stuff you fancy (cocoa, raisins etc.)
Melt the butter, mix in the other stuff. Stick in oven tin. Compact to HAUC requirements with a metal spoon. Cook for a bit then leave to cool for 10-15 minutes before trying to get it out and put on the cooling rack.
I get told off for this because it doesn't contain any syrup but I like it.

Try adding some banana mate, keeps it moist, tastes sweet and keeps you going. either that or take em out the over earlier good luck!

Perhaps i should have taken Johns advice and got a good women to make them for me, i ended up with a tray of loose oats that went in the bin. I think i need to make the mix a bit more moist next time, either that or go to asda
