Nice 1 Dan. Alot better than using an indoor trianer then? I keep saying I'll have to give it a go as I ain't got the motivation for the trainer at home. Which one did you get to? Did you have to book? And did you go lycra'd up? I suppose it depends how motivated/committed you are on the trainer mate but I think to go at that cadence/resistance you'd be tying your trainer in knots. I can't use the indoor trainer mate but found it easy to stay focused today. Can't reiterate enough how feckin hard it was though, I'm goosed! ;D I went in normal gym gear today but will go in lycra on Friday. Too uncomfortable not to I think. Le Sport is the one we use and I think you have to be a member.

A few of you have been doing it now so have you got any tips? Another thing that i couldnt grasp was standing up and spinning like feck, it felt like my legs weren't going to support my upper body weight which spinning that fast and standing, any pointers guys and girls ? Tip 1 - take a towel in with you to wipe the sweat off your face, hands and anything else you feel getting slippery etc Tip 2 - take a drink, a big drink Tip 3 - when doing the stand up sprint, lean far enough forward that your arms are supporting you and then your legs are free to spin to oblivion, or cramp whichever comes first Tip 4 - wear as little as possible - you wouldn't believe how much you sweat when you aren't actually going anywhere . Anyway hope you and Dan haven't been put off by it - it does get more enjoyable - especially when you are trying to outdo each other . Do that a couple of times a week and you'll suddenly find your overall strength and stamina getting better and your heart rate dropping.

Obvioulsly great for genral fitness tho . Can anyone else put any more light on the subject of how good it is for endurance mountain biking?

It's going to benefit cardio performance all around mate, it's just a muscle at the end of the day. (Yours must be fookin puny) ;D Aside from that it's going to greatly improve your technique and hopefully the ability to change your pace as required. Lactate threshold will increase as well.

Just come back from my weekly spin at JJB(DW) Bangor. I've been doing it for a month now. It's so poular now that you have to book for all 3 classes. You don't half get a sweat on, so as Dave says take a towel, a load of water, and try not to throw up!! ;D

I tried spinning classes last night for the first time. Bloody Hell it was hard I think getting the technique was the hardest, along with getting used to applying the correct resistance. Having said that, I'll be giving it another go as soon as I get a free Tuesday ;D
