My thoughts exactly mate. It's so easy to register, you don't even need a proper email address because nothing checks it's a proper one. I think the activation sorts that out doesn't it? No mate, you can still register on the forum with a dodgy email address but it just means you won't receive any PM notifications, forum emails, etc.

Is it easy to put this procedure in place?

No, you is right! ;D But if you don't validate your email address from that email then nothing & no-one is bothered either way. Believe me, there is a very high percentage of current forum members with "Account Status: Not Activated", especially in the zero post club. Is it easy to put this procedure in place? The procedure is in place now, but it's not really a security feature. It just means that if you do validate your email address then we can send you MBNW spam! ;D

Remove all forum members with 0 posts immediately (there are currently 137) I'm with you on that, as regards to reducing a potential security risk. As embear has already pointed out 'If they're not riding with anyone or contributing to any discussions, then what are they here for?'

There is some great advice from some very knowledgeable people in this thread and its a sign of the times that we need to be more vigilant and pay greater attention to our security arrangements.
For myself its a no brainier, and I keep my bikes in the house, i realize this is not a perfect arrangement for most people but it will always be the safest way of storing your bike.
I do think we need to be careful of not becoming over paranoid about the whole situation and campbells post made very interesting reading.
As for tightening up the forum security, i am very reluctant to lock the whole forum as i think it would be very off putting to prospective new members and information posted in a majority of the boards would have no benefit to criminals looking for useful information on this forum.
I will start by locking the ‘plan your rides’ section if anybody has any suggestions on what other boards should be for viewing my members only then please let me know.
Also I do tend to keep a very good eye on who signs in on a daily basis, if i notice anybody consistently signing in and not posting they will be investigated and if the admin are not happy then deleted.

Sounds good to me, i'm onboard big man ;D How about getting rid of the non-posters?

How about getting rid of the non-posters? Do it I agree! It'll make the member figures look worse but it's pointless them being here.

yes, why join if you dont want to interact with the other members. the non posters are just monitoring, whether that is for good or bad is another thing.

I agree too. you don't necessarily have to meet up with people, but at least get involved...
Except that dude who got p1ssed at the march forum ride, he had a bit of attitude, shame he doesn't post too much ;D

No idea what his name was, but he slated the route cos of a few cheeky sections, then admitted to using them himself. someone probably deleted him soon after...
I'm suprised you don't remember, he should be an mbnw hall of famer ;D

I think that was our well known monkey friend from a local trail centre... Agree with the deleting of zero post members btw.

is it just me or do the '' where are you from and what bike do you ride?'' posts sound a bit dodgy?
