I'm still some way off buying a full sus, and i'm almost settled on a Stumpjumper FSR anyway, but i'd like to know peoples opinions on multi linkage suspension over single pivot.
Is the only benefit of single pivots being less maintenance? Or am i missing something?

Have you had a demo on any bikes to see how they ride.

No i've not ridden either. Still quite away from buying. Just after peoples thoughts really.
I'm sure multi linkage is more technically advanced, but they still make single pivots, so they must have some benefits.

Ive not been into the full sus scene that that long to be able to comment to be honest. there must be benefits to both. Have you tried googling the question?

I think once you have ridden a full bouncer from a hardtail you wont care..my m8 rode a hardtail demoed some full sussers...ended up with a Heckler swears he'll never go back to a hardtail.

I've owned both types and to be honest don't know what to say. They were both excellent but different bikes.
More important for me is that the bike doesn't 'bob' when riding it uphill, hence why I went for my epic this time around. You can stand out of the seat on the epic and ride, something i wasn't able to do on my Marin.

I will never ditch the hard tail, Its what i started on. The full sus is a little more kinder to the body now I'm getting older !! ;D

I've had both and as I generally stay in the saddle and pedal smoothly when climbing I don't get any benefit from multilink designs so prefer the simplicity of a single pivot. If I raced XC or enduro's regulary then I would consider the extra stability a multipivot provides under power but this advantage has been greatly reduced since rear shocks got all the clever compression damping systems like propedal and SPV.
