I have had pain in my knee for a few weeks now, it hasn't been bad at the start of a ride but hurts an hour into it. The pain is on the inside of the leg, and the Doc said that i have torn a tendon and need to rest it Anyone else had the same problem or any idea how long will take..

Someone I know from uni tore her achillies tendon and she said it took ages for it to get better because she wasn't sent for the right physio and wasn't sent early enough (6 month wait).
She said it might be worth asking about this now, as NHS physios have a massive waiting list.
Hopefully you'll be better after a couple of weeks - this good weather can't last much longer so hopefully you won't be missing much!

Is it on the inside leg back of the knee? by any chance have you hyperextended your knee recently?

tendon damage takes months to heal if you persist on riding with it it will only get worse-theres a very good sports physio in Llandudno- near the police station i think-go to someone like that. i've got tendonitis in my arm and its agony. impossible to rest an arm tho!

Sounds like you need to have a look at your pedal/cleat setup mate. Sounds like it could be medial knee issues. Is it on the leg you bust? Tendonitis of the knee is usually petella tendonitis which would be shown by a painful feeling at the bottom of your kneecap, this is usually a problem in someone who suddenly ups the ante with training etc. A tendon tear would hurt all the time not just 1hr into the ride bud, I'd try flats.

Could be your saddle height I'm with Sooz on this one. A sports physio will treat the problem and advise you on how to prevent it happening again. They're pricey, expect to pay about £30 per session and have about 8 sessions to cure the problem (be wary of any that advise you it will take longer than this), but from my experiance its money well spent.

Its not on the back of the knee, its on the inside of the knee(leg). If all fails i will let go off the bike and go back into motocross

Lots of memories of good times though. Might have to start a thread reminiscing about past pleasures in the saddle of an MX bike.)

I tore the tendon in the side of my knee about 10 years ago. Stupidly I carried on skateboarding. I used to wear a tuby grip soaked in ibuprofen gel. This got me through the pain but because I carried on skateboarding it took over 6 months to heal.
I still feel it now sometimes.
Going to a sports injury specialist is good advice. Are you by chance in a penny in the pound type scheme in work. If you are you may be able to claim the cost back.

1-2 hours into the trails i seem to be getting not so much as a pain but a dull ache/tightning on the outside of the knee on the bony joint area, it does not stop me pushing hard on the ride but i am sure that i am doing it no good carrying on with out finding what is wrong, this could be a simular problem to what you are talking about?

Think about getting some support for it for the winter to allow it to recover properly. Physioroom.com have a pretty decent injury treatment guide and are also pretty competitive on price for heat packs, freeze gel and supports Physio Supplies are also pretty good.
