hello All!
I keep losing this site amongst all my bookmarks! lol
bit about my self? i ride a hardtail, and ride at Llandegla mostly, i am noobish at the red, but enjoy it!
only bits i need to improve my meager skill are the bumpy northshore, what a pain that is! rumour of a smoothing of the surface?
also a bit half was round where theses a berm to the left then a switchback to then down, i find it hard to get around the rocks and stuff, watch where i am going and be aware of faster riders!
and one more! the last red, that berm before the bridge, bit slower there, and have to beware of faster riders, some who dont like noobs in their way
but i am lucky, i get to goto degla 2 to 3 times a week, i think once i get my speed/skills up a bit, black is next
might be doing the marin this week, did it about 6 months ago, took me 5 hours, was SO unfit, was not funny
but i can now do red once and the blue 4 times, and only feel tired if i do about 40 to 50 miles in a day
so the marin should be ok now? but where next? what other trails?
been to brenin, i dont have the skills at the moment, so not bothered

Welcome to the forum. There's plenty of people on here, all with varied riding abilities. Look out in the 'plan your rides' for something that suits you, or just put your own ride up. Llandeglas popular with most peolple on here....Hope you enjoy the forum....friendly bunch on here

I woudn't be scared of the black at Llandegla if you can ride the red. I think most people will agree there isn't anything more techincal on the black run its just that little bit longer. If you can do the red and then the blue 4 times the black won't be any problem.

You'll easily be fit enough for the marin, and start riding other trails regularly instead of llandegla, your skills will improve much quicker

Welcome to the forum! ;D Don't get hung up about your fitness - by the sounds of it you are fitter than a lot of the regular riders on here! Skills take a bit of time - I've been doing this for 3 years and I'm still learning and getting beaten by most people on the descents / techy bits. As mentioned before get yourself along to one of the "Plan Your Rides" You'll really start improving as you ride with other people, especially those who are better than you an dyou pick up tips from them. Hope to see you out soon

one thing i have been doing on the skills area at llandegla is getting more practice on the berms/corners ( drifting sometimes!)
and getting faster over the jumps, (middle ones) not air as such, but getting used to the way the bike feels
once i get brave/skilled enuff to get some air, might do a jump course
as for fitness its important to me, i have lost 42 pound in weight, since july 08, i am 40 in dec, and i want to keep my weight down, and improve my fitness, even more so
need to be more confident on the bike, in certain conditions, brake less, ride more

As everyone else has said, look in the 'Plan your rides' Section and join one of the rides. Don't worry about holding people up, I thought I would when I first went, but there's always someone slower than you. (Usually me ;D ) I've found the best way to improve my fitness is by geting out with people quicker than me, you soon get dragged around

just been upto the masts at degla, then down to the pass cafe, coming back is rather hard! last 300 meters up the hill i walked
coming down to llandegla from the masts is fun! was a bit careful, as its a bit narrow/rutty? good stuff tho!
