Only just found this site, and I like it. Not flash but functional!
I'm Nik, From Abergele, I'm a recreational XC rider Been riding for the last 15 years on and off. Bought myself a new bike 2 months ago and wanted to get together with a like minded local group for fun on and perhaps even off the local trails.
My fave trail is Llandegla but I'll admit I haven't really done many other routes to compare.
I'm not riding anything more than the coastal cycle path since I slipped a disc 2 weeks ago and it hurts if I put too much effort in, but it is easier than walking.
Anyway I hope to do some chatting and riding with you in the future.

Thanks guys.
Hey spinner, The Gwrych castle ride is one of my regular rides, but the trails there are a bit sketchy at best. I haven't been around the quarry so maybe in the not too distant future I could join you and get to know that part of your ride.
Have you been involved in building any trails? My friend Fraser is one of the Gwrych castle regulars too. He was one of the first to make the trails up there including the jump track at the top of the hill. Not my cup of tea really. I like to keep my wheels on the ground.

I was just thinking about that while I was looking for some lock on grips. He says he won't be without them now, lol.
I might try and get up there this weekend depending on whether my back will let me.

I was chatting to Fraser this afternoon and he told me that the council had been up there and flattened everything in the interests of health and safety.

With regards to that thread, I saw 4 lads going up there on a pit bike last week.
I think if the local council and Forestry Commision wanted to, they could control the amount of damage and health and safety violations by actively letting people go up there on specific and properly maintained trails. There would of course need to be some kind of supervisor to make sure undesirables didn't go there but then he'd need to be paid. Personally I'd do it for free if I had somewhere proper to ride on my doorstep.

Unfortunately the only transport I have is my sturdy Kona so joining up with you would require me bumming a lift off someone local. I should be able to get the train to a few events in the new year though.
