Dogs and walkers should be on leads. One went in front of me on a trail and I nearly came off. Bloody walker gives me a load of abuse. I wouldn't mind I was going uphill and at a slow speed. I was also testing my new bike and Spuds. I don't blame the dogs its the bloody owners

With ya there m8, couldn't believe how many cars were pulling up at the marin today all with loads of dogs. People were just pulling up then letting packs of the things straight out of the cars with out leads then they were just running wild around the car park. What is it with people having to walk there dogs on purpose built mtb trails, isn't there enough walking trails, do they really have to walk on our mtb trails then shout at us like we are in the wrong flying past them at warp speed on MTB trails. Dot even get me started on dog dump, oh and another thing why are horses aloud to crap all over the place, they seem so dump where ever they like, in the road, on the trail, on the footpath, i wouldn't be surprised to find a massive horse dump on my door step one morning. Also why ride the things in the road if they are scared of traffic, it just doesn't make sense when a horse rider gives you the evils when you drive past them on a ROAD, I may be be thick but i thought roads were for cars isn't that we pay road tax for? Why ride a bloody horse in the road if it is scared I could go on but it wont get me anywhere RANT OVER (Think I need a beer) ;D Ps. agree with you that its not the dogs its the half baked dim witted owners

We all know dog owners think everybody will love their dogs and think they own the place whereever they walk their mutts. They also walk along the singletrack meant for bikes and if we mention for their own saftey its for mountain bikes and they could get hurt they abuse you even when your totally polite. I think they can;t read either cause they clearly miss the signs for walkers. Can we claim off them if their dog cause us to crash. If we went along a footpath meant for walkers we would never hear the end of it...double standards init!

Jeez you let some steam off there Oggy.
I agree about the dogs though. I had a problem with mtb'ers and a dog.
The first time I did Llandegla 2 guys rode past with a dog in tow, as I stopped for a quick breather. They were flying and so was Shep. They'd gone about 50 metres and I started off again and only just managed to clip in when a second dog went flying past and I nearly ran into it. It was the only time on that day that I nearly came off. I looked around and realised this second dog was actually with guys who'd gone flying past with dog number one.
They were focused on the trail and just expected their dog to keep up with them, but it didn't and it could've caused a nasty accident. It's a good job for them it didn't!!

You cant blame the dogs, its the ignorance of the owners. I like dogs, just not the ones that their tails are always up in the air so you can see their rusty sheriff badge, thats not right! ;D
On Saturday starting on the Marin there were people walking dogs up the trail at the start out of the car park, none of them on leads. As soon as one set of dogs saw the other lot they were over scrapping and growling. One of the dogs owners was just bimbbling up the trail in his own little world with us behind him in granny rings holding back waiting for him to move. In the end we had to tell him.
One of the worst places Ive seen for dog dump is the bottom path going back up the sychnant Pass from conwy. Dogs clearly don't walk themselves up there because they cant open gates, so the owners must be happy to let their dogs curl one out in the path and not pick it up.
I must admit, all the dog owners i know are very responsible when it come to walking them and clearing up after them. Its one of those battles your never going to win.
Get your camera out next time, take a pic of owners letting their dogs dump on paths and send it into the Weekly News!
