I was talking to one of the lads in light speed in Betws today and he reckons that bikes prices are set to take a sharp rise, he reckons that a bike that is now selling for around £1600 with rise by about £200. I really think this is going to happen as i remember chatting to the guy that imports the bikes for the bike factory when i bought my bike and he was saying the same thing. Its due to the rise in the price of metal and also due to the rise in shipping costs as a direct effect of fuel prices, he was also saying that rubber goods will also be effected with an average of a quid being put on to an inner tube. I love GB I dont see my wages going up to cover all the extra costs we are now incurring in rip off Britain

I wouldn't be at all suprised, the price of all the raw materials of all the components have gone up so much in recent months. However once they go up, I can't see the price coming down! :-( ever!
On this one i don't think it's rip off britain, it's the same worldwide.

BUT, the government want us to be Quote "Greener" throughtout our every day lives, so ride a bike instead, but now people wont buy the bike in the first place because its more expensive, you mite as well just save the money and buy fuel with it.

It's not just the raw material cost increase that's causing this, it's also supply and demand. More and more people are turning to bikes as a cheaper alternative to cars. This being the case, manufacturers, wholesalers and, to a lesser extent, retailers all see an opportunity to raise the prices because they know they'll sell anyway.

"He chained it to a bollard while he went into the local Tesco store, only to return a few minutes later to find it gone.
The thieves had apparently lifted the bike - and the chain - over the bollard and vanished. "
