As my MTB is out of action due to gear selection problems, I'm planning on walking up Snowdon at the weekend. It's promising sun all week to melt any remaining snow. Saturday so far is forecast as 16' and 1mph wind. I'm planning on an early start in order to get into the Pen y Pass carpark, then up Y Lliwedd, Watkin, Snowdon summit and down the PYG track to the car park. Any one interested in joining me in a Yeti hunt?

Someone's made other plans for me I'm afraid.
If you're walking up Snowdon, you could carry your bike up and freewheel all the way down - don't need gears really for that ;D

Need arms like a gibbon to get a MTB up Lliwedd and the Watkin path. I could always hire you for £2.50 as a sherpa!

Though I'd post some photos of my walk in the glorious weather we had today. Managed it in 4.75 hours, not helped by the general muppetry of the tourists infesting the PYG track on the return leg! Starting out on the miners track to do all of theskyline from left to right! Getting closer to Y Lliwedd, the first big climb. Looking towards Snowdon from half way up Y Lliwedd. Uuh! It's a long way down! Llyn Llydaw Looking over to the other side of the Snowdon Horseshoe, towards a heavily populated Crib Goch! Cardigan Bay in the distance behind Yr Aran Llyn Cwellyn and Mynydd Mawr, Viewed from the summit of Snowdon. Snowdon Ranger path on the right, Forum ride arena for April ! Llyn Llydaw, with Y Lliwedd in the background (legs aching a bit now! Another view of a very heavily populated Crib Goch!

Between Nant Peris and Dolwyddelan, I stopped to dish out some food and water and the offer of a lift to a lycra clad, Boardman riding chappie. He ate all my food but refused my offer of a pick up, and rode off furiously into the sunset, Bloody roadies!

The only snow I encountered was about 150 meters of drift about 2ft deep, at the top of the Watkin path, and about 50 meters at the top of the PYG track, that I slid down on my ar$e!. The sun does'nt get around to the Llanberis side of the mountain until the afternoon, which is why I think this side is slower thawing out. Absolutely NO snow on the bits that are going to be used on the forum ride.
