Rather than do a loop on my road bike this evening I was considering sessioning a long climb. Basically the hill from Broughton A5104 up to Penymynydd would be a mile climb to a ½ mile flat, around the roundabout and descend.
Any tips for maximising this type of work out?

When I trained for the Shoe hill climb I just did reps; building up from steady to a gut wrenching effort over 3 reps then rest for 3 minutesduring return to bottom of hill; then do each group again 3 or 4 times if you are using a HRM only reach max on the 3rd of each rep; then ride home in a spinning gear very steady. Doesn't sound alot but it builds up climbing speed. Take a drink. Good luck

I ride that everyday on the way home, the road up the old warren past the spinning wheel is better to train on as theres less traffic and it gets steeper as you go higher, plenty of nice property + motors up there to look at too! Then just ride down + recover. Good hill to gain power on

As you leave broughton village, turn right at the white building, if you get to the a55 bridge you hav missed it by 100yds. You cant miss it A dead straight hill. make sure you ride all the way to the top past the pub till you get to the wooden gates across the road.
